Why You Should Incorporate an Activity Into Your Holiday Photoshoot

Ho, ho, ho! It’s almost the holiday season! I absolutely love everything to do with the holidays, but I have to admit that one of my favorite things is capturing families doing festive Christmas activities. You can physically feel the Christmas spirit in the photos and they always make me smile!

Are you considering a Christmas photoshoot? They are so fun and can be a great way to capture your family at various ages! I highly recommend having a Christmas photoshoot at least once because you will really cherish having traditions or holiday memories to look back on. Not only will your children enjoy seeing memories from holidays past, but you will be able to recall the year they occurred and the stage of your family at the time.

Even though traditional photoshoots with posed shots and styles are wonderful, I definitely recommend incorporating one or two Christmas-themed activities into a holiday photoshoot. Here are three reasons why this is a good idea!

3 Reasons to Incorporate a Christmas Activity Into Your Photoshoot

Children read a Christmas book as a fun activity during a holiday photoshoot

1. Helps You to Look More Natural

Not everyone is super comfortable in front of a camera, and that’s okay! But the best part about doing an activity during your shoot is that it gives you a purpose other than just smiling and posing. By being able to move your hands, look at one another with joy, and actually make a memory, you will appear 10 times more natural to the camera. A natural smile and even laughter will create the best shots to look back on!

2. Provides a Glimpse Into Your Personalities

Oh how I love when I get to capture a family enjoying a Christmas memory and seeing the silly, goofy, playful sides come out. The camera absolutely picks up the true personalities in this instance and it makes for the most amazing photos. From dad putting flour on moms nose during a Christmas baking scene, to little brother laughing at dad falling down ice skating, all of the feels come to the surface when you see various personalities shine. I highly recommend doing an activity just for this very reason!

3. Helps the Kids Have More Fun!

Yep, it’s obvious that fun will be had by all, but especially the kids, when you’re doing a festive activity! The hope is that the kids will be well-behaved and cooperative regardless, but I can guarantee they won’t be mad when they get to build a snowman or help mom wrap some presents. The activity is meant to be fun, simple, and festive while also providing the photographer a way to move around and capture the magic of your family. It’s a win-win for both of you!

If I haven’t convinced you yet how fun a Christmas-themed activity would be in your next holiday photoshoot, perhaps these activity ideas could spark your interest!
