Savannah through a lens, surrounded by fellow photographers, and capturing the magic of motherhood.
My recent trip to Georgia was a feast for the eyes and a boost for the soul. Join me as I share the stories and images from an unforgettable week in one of the South's most captivating cities!
A Magically Creative Photography Experience
I traveled to Savannah in January, meeting up with nine other fellow motherhood photographers from different parts of the US for 5 days and 4 nights of relaxation and a deep dive into retapping my creativity. After a long busy season (that’s what photographer’s call September to October) I was in need of relaxation and time behind the camera, creating for myself.
All ten of us stayed in a beautiful VRBO located on a cove that connected to the Wilmington River. Imagine waking up to the soft glow of dawn reflecting off the water, the gentle sounds of nature replacing the city's usual hum. It was the perfect setting for a retreat focused on renewal.
Our co-hosts and Refresh Retreat workshop instructors, Lauryn and Lindsey, led us through a weekend of tranquil relaxation, elaborate meals, education, and the opportunity to photograph a beautiful expectant mother and several of the other attendees.

More Than Just Pictures: Connection and Community
This wasn't just another photography workshop. It was a chance to connect with like-minded creatives, to share our struggles and triumphs, and to learn from each other in a supportive and inspiring environment. We spent hours discussing everything from posing techniques to business strategies, all while enjoying the warmth of Savannah's hospitality.
The expectant mother, a vision in turquoise, was a powerful subject. Capturing her raw emotion reaffirmed my artistic vision for motherhood photography—to freeze those fleeting moments of connection, love, and unadulterated beauty in time.

Savannah's Charm: A Photographer's Dream
Beyond the retreat itself, Savannah's charm was undeniable. We explored the city's historic squares, wandered through moss-draped parks, and marveled at the stunning architecture. Every corner offered a new photographic opportunity. The soft, diffused light in January was perfect for capturing the city's ethereal beauty.
We took advantage of the unique backdrops Savannah had to offer. The cobblestone streets, the grand antebellum mansions, and the lush greenery of Forsyth Park provided a diverse and inspiring palette for our photography.

Recharging the Soul: The Importance of a Photography Retreat
This trip was more than just a photography workshop; it was a much-needed retreat for my soul. As a motherhood photographer, I pour my heart and soul into every session, capturing the precious moments of families. But it's essential to take time to recharge, to reconnect with my own creativity, and to remember why I fell in love with photography in the first place.
I returned from Savannah feeling refreshed, inspired, and ready to capture the magic of motherhood with renewed passion. The experience reminded me of the importance of community, of connection, and of taking time to nurture my own creativity.

Looking Ahead: Bringing Savannah's Magic Home
I'm excited to bring the lessons I learned in Savannah back to my own photography. I'm inspired to create more meaningful and authentic images, to capture the raw emotions and genuine connections that make motherhood so beautiful.
If you're a mother looking to capture the fleeting moments of your family's journey, I would love to connect with you. Let's create images that tell your story, images that you'll cherish for a lifetime. Because just like Savannah, motherhood is a journey filled with beauty, magic, and unforgettable moments.
