Wildflowers or Fall Colors? Arvada Senior Photographer helps You Navigate Colorado's Seasons

Let’s be honest for a second: planning your senior year is a full-time job. Between sports, college apps, trying to maintain a social life, and, you know, graduating, your calendar is a full. Then you realize you also need to schedule your senior photos.
In Colorado, picking a date can feel surprisingly high-stakes. Our seasons change faster than a TikTok trend. We go from snowstorm to sunglasses in about five hours. And when you want your senior photos to feel like you and not just a generic snapshot, picking the right moment is actually kind of important.

As an Arvada Senior Photographer, my goal is to make sure your location, your season, and your outfit all come together to tell your story. If you’re dreaming of sun-drenched wildflower fields but your calendar only clears up in late October, we’re going to have a mismatch. I want you to look back on these photos and think "That was exactly my vibe," not "Why did I choose August when I wanted a cozy sweater?"
So, to help you (and your parents, who are probably reminding you about this daily) figure it out, let’s break down the two main vibes Colorado offers for your senior session.
Vibe 1: Summer Wildflowers, Golden Hour, and Zero Jackets
If your ideal aesthetic involves light, airy colors, sundresses, and that iconic mountain golden hour glow, summer is your season.
Colorado wildflowers are magic. We’re talking fields of purple, yellow, and white that look absolutely insane (in the best way) in photos. Plus, summer sessions are warm. You aren’t freezing while we try to get that perfect candid smile. You get the long evening light, and we don’t have to worry about a sudden frost ruining the flowers.
The Sweet Spot: July or August. The Advice: If this is you, do not wait. We need to book these while the wildflowers are at their peak. When to Book: Book your session by May to secure a July or August session.

Vibe 2: Cozy Layers, Golden Aspen Trees, and Crisp Evenings
On the other hand, maybe your vision board is full of oversized cardigans, cute boots, and the ultimate fall backdrop: golden leaves.
There is nothing quite like fall in the foothills. The light gets a little softer, the air gets crisp, and the scenery is unmatched. It feels classic, sophisticated, and, let's be honest, it’s just fun to wear cozy layers. This vibe is timeless and always, always popular.
The Sweet Spot: September or October. The Advice: This is where the candid truth comes in. When to Book: Book as soon as your know your fall schedule or no later than July to ensure you get the Fall date you want.

The Candid Truth About Colorado Fall (Read This, Seriously)
Here is the thing about fall in Colorado: everybody wants it. Those cozy, golden moments are the first ones to disappear from my calendar every single year.
And the heartbreaking reality? If you wait until you actually see the leaves starting to turn yellow in Arvada or Boulder before you reach out to book? You are likely too late. My fall is usually a "Sold Out" situation before the first leaf even falls.
We have to plan ahead for the magic. We have to book your September session in no later than July, so when that perfect autumn light arrives, your spot is secured.

The Next Step: Let’s Make it Official
Your senior photos should be an experience, not a chore. By deciding on your vibe now, we remove the stress later. Whether you’re team wildflower or team sweater-weather, there is a perfect window for you. The first step is simply checking out the options.
I just put together a quick carousel on Instagram breaking down exactly when to book based on your style.
Parents, if you’re reading this: now is the time to start the conversation with your senior. Seniors, if you’re reading this: text your parents and tell them which vibe you want.
